Ovelle Silcock’s Base cream in a 100g tub is a traditional skin cream with a high lipid cream containing 20% w/w White Soft Paraffin which helps retain moisture in the skin by reducing the rate of normal evaporation. Ovelle Silcock’s Base can be used as both a skin moisturiser and soap substitute cleanser for the face and body and prevents itching or flaking skin due to dryness. A traditional emollient cream to help soothe and hydrate, dry and flaky skin. Silcock's Base can be used to soften skin in conditions such as eczema or psoriasis. Suitable for use on the face and body as an emollient or as a soap substitute for gentle cleansing.
White soft paraffin is used as a barrier cream by providing a layer of oil on the surface of the skin to prevent water evaporating from the skin surface. It is an emollient, sometimes known as skin lubricant. It is used to soothe, smooth and hydrate the skin.
The stratum corneum is an outer layer of your skin cells that retains moisture in the skin. This layer can be diminished or lost for a variety of reasons. These include aging and washing with soap and hot water. Applying soft white paraffin creates a substitute for the stratum corneum and the sebum that naturally keep your skin moisturized. This improves the health of your skin, diminishes dryness and prevents cracking.
